The foundation of the Sainik School Amethi was laid-out by signing of Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between Ministry of Defence and State Government of Uttar Pradesh on 30 Apr 2015. Sainik Schools were introduced in 1961 with the aim of preparing boys academically, physically and mentally for entry into the National Defence Academy and Indian Naval Academy.
Sainik School Amethi came into existence on 15 July 2020, marking the commencement of its first Academic Session. However, due to the Pandemic COVID-19, the Cadets couldn’t join the school for physical classes and therefore the School resorted to online classes from 10 August 2020. Presently
Lt Col Chandra Prakash form Indian Army is posted as Principal and
SqnLdr Pranav Nagar from Indian Air Force is posted as Administrative Officer.
